Well hey there! My name is Abbie Sackmann. I am a wife, mother, therapist, yoga instructor, introvert, dreamer, coupon ‘queen’, wine and cheese lover, chaos organizer, book nerd and a wanna-be writer. I grew up in a small town in central Wisconsin, although have lived in the twin cities for the past 27 years and consider Minnesota my home now (I do still bleed green and gold and will be a forever Green Bay Packers fan). We love our little, simple suburban life. I dreamed of being a writer ever since I was a little girl and have journals full of these big ideas. In more recent years, I have been working to tackle fears, leave my comfort zone and live life from a more fearless mentality. To support my growth, I completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in March of 2024 and could not have loved it more.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years and combined we have 4 children…the modern day Brady Bunch. I have a beautiful stepdaughter, Jadynn, who is 22 and attends Iowa State University, a witty stepson, Harper, who is 20 and attends Clemson, a talented, fierce daughter, Artessa, who is 16 and together my husband and I have our littlest daughter, Hazel, who is age 9. She is the true glue of our family and although we may all not be related, she is related in some way to every single one of us (that still gives me goosebumps!).
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. I have the honor and privilege to work for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs through a National program as a clinical therapist for veterans, helping veterans all over the United States. I have worked with veterans for nearly 16 years and I find immense joy in this work, despite its emotional strain at times. Additionally, I became trained as a yoga teacher about 2 years ago and this has truly pushed the limits of my own comfort zone and proved to myself that I can be fearless.
I have huge goals and I appreciate all the support I’ve received on this journey called life.
